Today featured multiple Lucky Losers challenging some of the ASB Classic’s top seeds in epic battles on court.
 
Despite losing Ryan Harrison to injury, Steve Johnson took on young Italian Liam Caruana who gave him a run for his money. Johnson took first set 75 then battled his way to victory in the second set, snatching it in a tie breaker 76(4).
 
Another promising up and comer, Stefanos Tsitsipas, kept on his toes during his match against Lucky Loser Lukas Lacko. With Lacko winning the first set, Tsitsipas managed to steal the second. The third set had the crowd on the edge of their seats with Lacko outlasting his higher ranked opponent to win 63 67(5) 63.
 
Kiwi favourite Michael Venus had a second chance to shine in his doubles match during the night session partnered with Raven Klaasen. The second seed pair fought their way through with a victory over Wesley Koolhof and Artem Sitak 61 6(2)7(7) 0(7)1(10).
 
Fans are in for a cracker of a day tomorrow with all top four seeds vying for spots in the quarter finals. The match of the day sees second seed Juan Martin Del Potro taking on rising star Denis Shapovalov in what will be MUST SEE match.
