Tuesday at the ASB Classic

Third seed Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia kicks off centre court action today with a contest against young American Alison Riske. The two-time grand slam champion is making her second appearance at the ASB Classic after losing to Peng Shuai in the second round in 2011.

Peng is the second seed and she follows on centre court against 2008 ASB Classic finalist Aravane Rezai. The Frenchwoman was a top 20 player a year ago but had to get through qualifying to make the main draw this year.

Then it's the defending champion Greta Arn of Hungary taking on Julia Goerges of Germany in a rematch of their 2011 ASB Classic semifinal. Arn leads the head to head 3-1.

Last year's finalist and 2010 winner, Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium opens up against Czech Karolina Pliskova in their first meeting.

In the night session, Kiwi Marina Erakovic starts her 2012 ASB Classic quest against US Open semifinalist Angelique Kerber of Germany before defending doubles champions Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik open their title defence.
