The ASB Classic will be the place to be to start your New Year’s Eve festivities.

Internationally renowned Kiwi tenor Geoff Sewell will entertain fans on the opening day on 31 December.

The former lead singer of pop opera group Amici Forever will sing the national anthem to start the tournament and will perform on centre court throughout the day. 

Geoff is a passionate sports fan and he has performed at various sporting fixtures including on centre court at Wimbledon.

Geoff Sewell Biography:

New Zealander Geoff Sewell is a multi platinum selling international recording artist, accomplished tenor, impresario, entrepreneur and creator – with his kiwi wife Simone - of the world’s first ‘pop-opera’, classical crossover band Amici Forever.  

He has had three No.1 albums with Amici’s The Opera Band and Defined and his own solo debut Believereaching over 3.5 million album sales worldwide.  Following sold-out tours with Amici, Geoff toured NZ again with his Incognito Artists and hit the No.1 spot on the charts with his Live in Concert DVD.  He has enjoyed chart and tour success in the United Kingdom, America, Japan, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

He has sung for the Queen, Princes Charles, William and Harry and members of the Royal Family at The Royal Albert Hall, Windsor Castle and other illustrious venues; Nelson Mandela; and numerous celebrities such as Sir Elton John, Leonardo di Caprio and Victoria and David Beckham at beautiful locations around the globe.

With Amici Forever he was nominated for a Classical Brit Award in the UK for best album and he’s won numerous accolades for his performance and philanthropic activities during his 15 year career.

Geoff is passionate about sport and is honoured to have performed the national anthems at the FA Cup Final, the Champions League Final, the Rugby World Cup, the Rugby League World Cup Final, The Six Nations, various rugby fixtures at Twickenham, and on centre court at Wimbledon.
