Legendary Bryan Brothers confirmed for ASB Classic

The most successful doubles team in history are coming back to the ASB Classic in 2019. The American duo, Mike and Bob Bryan will start their 21st season on tour in Auckland before jetting off to the first Grand Slam of the year in Melbourne.

The Bryan brothers have won more ATP titles than any other doubles pairing in history, a total of 114 together. The entertaining pair have held the world number one doubles ranking jointly for 438 weeks, and consecutively for 139 weeks.

The identical twins are looking forward to returning to tennis lane but are hoping for better results than their two previous visits.

“We are stoked to be coming back to Auckland. We’ve got a bit of a point to prove. We we’ve won 114 titles together but are yet to get the W in Auckland. We’ve got to change that! Here’s hoping 2019 can be our year”.

The 40-year-old twins have played in 76 consecutive Grand Slam events, winning 16 Grand Slam titles together, and a further 11 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles between them. The dynamic pair also grabbed an Olympic gold medal in 2012.

“They truly are the most successful pairing of all time and one of the most exciting doubles combinations to watch” said Karl Budge, ASB Classic Tournament Director. Their record speaks for itself and their on court energy and banter will make them crowd favourites for sure”.

This season, a hip injury side lined Bob as the brothers were preparing for the French Open, this would’ve been their 77th consecutive Grand Slam. Mike paired up with fellow American Jack Sock to win Wimbledon, the U.S Open and the Nitto ATP Finals. Now, Mike holds the number one doubles ranking on his own.

However, with Bob back to full fitness, the chest pumping brothers will reunite in the new year and there’s no doubt the Kiwi tennis fans will be in for a treat as the American brothers look to dominate the doubles game once again.

The ASB Classic will span for two weeks; the women's tournament kicking off on December 31 to January 6 followed by the men’s tournament from January 7 to 12. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketek. You can purchase tickets either online, over the phone on (0800 842 538) or in person at one of the agencies listed on the event website.
